Thrift Finds

Thrift Finds

Retail therapy is real. There is nothing like decompressing with a day
of pretty new things and imagining all the ways said new things
can add to your wardrobe.

My own retail poison is thrifting. Its such a rush finding a one of a
kind piece at a great price. Being a college student,
I am all about finding a great style steal!

Lately, I have been finding great jacket pieces. I think no matter
how into thrifting you are, jackets are a good way to go.

A thrifted jacket is an easy way to add a little extra to any outfit.

I found the sequin blazer at a women's thrift store in Philly.
I could not pass it up! Who could?
Literally the perfect addition to any going-out look.

All the way from across the pond...my most grown-up piece,
the lace green coat. I nabbed this at a market in London.
I really just use it as decoration in my apartment, it's so pretty!
Sometimes I pair it with a simple blue jean and white shirt but it adds
a great touch to a graphic tee.

The last blazer I picked up at Philly AIDS thrift reminded
me of Tommy Hilfiger and Gigi Hadid's collection. It has a
chic rock and roll vibe to it.

ellelauri Romper

ellelauri Romper

I'm sure we can all agree the best thing about rompers is the effortlessness that comes with wearing them. When you find one that fits, all you have to do is throw it on and your look is complete.

That is true for this romper given to me from the boutique I work at. It is made of silk which gives it a polished look that you can achieve with little effort. I love the stripes. they are very city chic to me.

I finished the look with black pointed ankle boots, silver bracelets, and a studded leather wrap bracelet for an edgy night-out-on-the-town look.

Ruffled Pink

Ruffled Pink

In my quest to incorporate more girlier or, what I am now calling
romantic pieces, into my wardrobe I picked up this pink ruffled top
 on sale at Topshop.

It is the prettiest shade of pink, but the ruffled shoulders and
bell sleeves are what I love the most. Throwing it on with a pair
of jeans gives you an effortlessly chic and flirty look

For a dressier look, I would add a pair of strappy heels to this outfit
and for a warmer day white shorts would easily pull this look together.

Casually Unexpected

Casually Unexpected

I have been wanting to put a day look together with this thrifted blue tweed mini-skirt.
The skirt's potential functionality inspired me. You could very easily dress it up,
but my vision for the skirt was more of a street look. Something a bit more casual and unexpected.
I paired the mini with a pajama style top. It has a laid back fit but the black and white stripes
keep it chic. I mentioned in a previous post that a pajama style top is an effortless way to look put together.
This look was all about contrasts from the different textures of the two pieces, the top is a thin chiffon material and the mini is tweed, to the color combo. I love how the black and white stripes work with the mixed blue of the mini. It works because blue, in my eyes, is a pop of color but pairs like a neutral.

Brighton is Bliss

Brighton is Bliss

My first Saturday in England I hopped on a train from Victoria station headed out of London and towards the coast.
Toward to the stone pebbled beaches, candy painted shacks,
and whimsical old roads of Brighton.

If you ever get the chance to go I urge you to go! I have
 never felt so at peace.

I wore this periwinkle and flower printed romper.
It knots up at the front, it's loose, it's playful,
and perfect for a day at the beach.

I have been trying to incorporate more "girly" pieces
like this into my wardrobe. It can be dressed up with a pair
of heels and layered chains or a more casual look like I
 sported with Converse.

True To London

True To London

London could not have been anymore London than on this day.
Clouds hung low and the air was cool when just the day before

I was strolling through Kensington in shorts.
But I want the true London experience so I will
layer up and go about my day.

This look started with the denim, I knew I wanted to
take these DIY'd raw hem jean on their first outing.
DIYing them was super easy, just cut an even line and use
a pair of tweezers to pull at the frayed ends.
Distress and pull to your liking.

(I never wore these jeans, the cut was awkward so messing them up wouldn't be a big deal)

I went with a loose lightweight sweater for warmth and
the light pink color brightened up the look a bit.
To finish the outfit I threw on this dark green duster,
it's lightweight and functional, perfect for layering.

And of course, my Converse were a part of this look.

First Day in London

First Day in London

I have been given the amazing opportunity to spend five weeks of
the summer studying in London. As much as I am here for school
I fully intend to experience all London has to offer.

I'll be posting all my adventures and the
outfits I wore along the way, stay tuned.

My first official day in London was admittedly spent
in bed recovering from my red eye flight.
By the next morning, I could not get out fast enough.

That first venture out was basically a mash-up of everything touristy you could think to do in London: Big Bend,
The London Eye, Tower Bridge, and of course a few snaps with
 the telephone booths.

I kept my outfit simple since I'd be walking about all day.
The not so basic white tee did what it does best and
polished up the look. For a pop of color, I popped
 on this lightweight bomber jacket.

Blue and Borrowed

Blue and Borrowed

A successful treasure hunt at the thrift store ended with
me walking out with this blue tweed mini skirt.

What I love about this skirt: the texture, the color,
the versatility, and the pockets - of course.

The texture is unexpected but not too busy.
The color, classic.

It can be dressed up with strappy heels, dressed down with a
pair of Converse - which I cannot wait to sport come summer - ,
or given an edgy look with a chunky boots.

The same could be said for the top.

A not so basic white tee is the perfect top for summer.

The ruffles do all the work for you.

There is no need to think; just grab your pop of
color shoes/bag and enjoy the summer sun.

Embrace the Cold

Embrace The Cold

or at least know how to deal with it

Winter can be brutal, but I refuse to lock myself inside.
I'd rather bundle up and spend a day off exploring Philly.
I did exactly that when a few inches of snow
got me out of classes for the day.

The key to surviving winter is to layer… and invest
in a thick faux fur coat that makes you
feel like you should be in Aspen or Moscow.

Then find a warm pair of faux fur boots that can
withstand the snow and slush. Also, they add a bit of
edge to your look. It's a win-win!
