Star Spangled Dress

 Star Spangled Dress

For a night on the town you can't go wrong with a
LBD(little black dress) but spice it up with a fun print.

After Tommy Hilfiger's 2015 Spring show that was oh so Rock and Roll, star prints have been making appearances every where.
And for good reason. The print gives any look a fun and fresh take. Not to mention you can't help but feel like a rockstar while sporting a star spangled look.
Something like this would make the perfect go-to holiday party dress. Asos.com and BooHoo.com have a few options as well as Ralph Lauren.

How to Handle the Summer Heat in Fall

How to Handle the Summer Heat
 in Fall

After a teaser week of crisp weather filled with an eagerness to celebrate everything Fall; sweaters, booties, long cardis, leather pants, and if that's your thing PSLattes.
We have been hit with hot summer like days.

So how do we embrace fall but avoid melting...

Flowy shorts and sweaters make for a great transtion outfit. Adding a pair of oxfords or booties with interestiong detail or pop of color will bring the look togehter and add a cool factor to a simple outfit.

The goal is to stay cool in the heat and look effortless.

A Taste of Fall

A Taste of Fall

Fall's official kickoff is the moment you can reach into your closet for that transition
piece that turns any look into a Fall one.

For me that piece is this olive green duster coat. It transformed this simple all black look into a put together Fall ensemble.
Olive green is a great neutral
 in terms of layering.
It stands our in the subtlest of ways.

Back to School | Classic

Back to School | Classic

It's official back to school season has begun. As hard as it maybe to say goodbye
to summer's carefree attitude and style
it's always fun to plan out your
back to school outfit.
I actually wore this on my third day of classes.
The look is sophisticated but causal.
Perfect for making a good impression
as you get around campus.

At the beginning of my day I had a denim jacket on to dress it down a little while
keeping with the classic theme to the look.
(But it was just too hot for that!)
My prized wine colored oxfords added a nice dose of color without being too loud.

Trend Talk \ Lace Up

Trend Talk \ Lace Up

Yes, I am aware that the lace up trend is not a new one. It has been around for a bit BUT I had a moment of appreciation for it the other day and wanted to share. Hence the new post category "Trend Talk"... I'm thinking it might be a new thing for the blog!

Now as fun as trends can be, your personal style should come before the latest trend. This was something that I struggled with and have tried to be aware of.
Only chasing trends when they can add to my style.

This moment of fashion appreciation, that I'm
sure many of you have also experienced, came while scrolling through my Insta feed.
A friend posted an ootd. A camel colored
tank top with a lace up neck line and print
parachute pants. It was a great pairing, I fell in love and couldn't stop thinking about lace ups.

They add a laid back feel but are also the epitome of edgy. And now pretty much everything can be seen with

lace ups! Whether its 70's inspired blouses and suede skirts or rock & roll black shorts and jeans. Or even a fun romper!

Western Edge

Western Edge

Another outfit centered around my shoes.
I got these boots as a gift!
The fringe on the boots were just
begging to be worn with western style.
However the blue calls for a more
modern take on that.
(I've been loving the tucked hair into jacket look
 so much this season!)

Casual Oxfords

Casual Oxfords

I managed to score these vampy wine
hued oxfords during a great sale
 at Lord and Taylor's
...and I am definitely obsessed!

For a casual look I paired the shoes
with some blue jeans and a sweater.
I kept the colors neutral to help
the shoes and fuzzy purse charm pop.

P.S. the shoes did gave me a horrible blister and shooting this post was so painful :( but they are worth the pain!

Pop of Pink

 Pop of Pink

Winter is here and so begins the layering.
I kept the colors neutral so the
pink scarf could have all the attention.
It kept me nice and warm along with the
faux fur lined jacket I picked up at an
after Christmas sale!

Daily Shoe

Daily Shoe

You know those shoes that you slip
on without even thinking about it.
The grab and go pair that can be
spotted on your feet like 80% of the time.
Well these are mine...

The ankle boots are a recent buy from JustFab. I mentioned in my last post my initial aversion to the pointed toe style. However whilst online window shopping
I couldn't help but fall in love.
Needless to say they have become
staple piece in my closet. They
are easier to style than I thought
they would be, it can give any laid
back a polished sort of edgy look!

The Converse on the other had are definitely ole reliable.
Comfy and classic yet worn in
enough to be edgy-ish.

2015 Rewind

2015 Rewind

Eight days into the new year and it's time to look back at 2015's outfit highlights.
It was a fun year in fashion or should I say STYLE.

I love how comfortable yet daring I have become with my personal style. Knowing your personal taste, being able to say this is
my look and this is how I like to pair things is an
accomplishment to bask in. Don't get me wrong trends are nice
and the occasional fast fashion fix is awesome
but style is all you! (corny I KNOW haha but true)

Let 2016 be the year of  finding your personal style.
Challenge yourself to avoid the easy trends.
Go with patterns and fits you like. Try something different.
You may fall in love with pointed boots even though you definitely side eyed them for years (ahem, talking to myself!)
Most importantly, have fun with it.
I wish everyone a very Blessed new year.

[Sorry I was post-less for so long]
